We believe there is one God

In three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God created the heavens and the earth. There is no other God. He is worthy of all honor and praise. We are called to worship Him in Spirit and Truth.

We believe Jesus Christ is…

The only begotten Son of God. He was born of the Virgin Mary. He is God in the flesh. He emptied Himself of His eternal glory to be born in Bethlehem. He lived a sinless life and was despised, rejected, and crucified. He died for the sins of all who will come to Him confessing their sinfulness and asking for forgiveness and pardon.

We believe that everything was created through Him. He was raised from the dead on the third day and ascended to the right hand of God the Father, where He now reigns as King of Kings over His eternal kingdom. He is coming again to take all who are His into His eternal presence in heaven. When He returns, the dead will be raised and all will be judged for eternal reward or punishment.

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity

Inspired of all of the Scriptures. He is given to enlighten every believer and illuminates their minds as they read His Word.

We believe the church is…

The living bride of Christ. Its purpose is to worship the One, True and Living God and to teach, train, and encourage His people in life and Godliness. The church is to be a living picture of the love of God to this world as it serves and shares the good news of how we are saved by faith, through grace, in Christ. The church is given the means of Grace: God’s Holy Scriptures, the prayers of the saints, and the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper to accomplish this calling.

We believe the Bible is God’s Word

Holy, inspired, inerrant and useful for “teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” The Scriptures, all sixty-six books making up the Old and New Testaments, are given that we might know the Father through the only means provided for our salvation, faith in the life, death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. In addition we are given the Bible as His rule for life and practice. We are responsible to read and know His Word, through individual study and prayer and through the hearing of its regular preaching and teaching.

We are a Confessional Church

Westminster Confession of Faith

When the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America was formed in 1788, it adopted (with minor revisions) the Westminster Confession of Faith, Shorter and Larger Catechisms (1647), as its secondary standards (the Bible itself being the only infallible rule of faith and practice). Officers in the Presbyterian Church in America take a vow to “sincerely receive and adopt” these confessional documents “as containing the system of doctrine taught in the Holy Scriptures.” (Taken from PCA website)

Shorter and Larger Catechism

The shorter and larger catechism’ are wonderful summaries of the truths of Scripture and are great teaching and learning tools for both young and old to grow in their understanding of God’s Word. The shorter catechism is outlined by short question and answers. The larger catechism follows the same patten with lengthy explanation and Scriptural proof texts.

Apostles’ Creed

The Apostles’ Creed is a concise summary of the apostles’ teachings. It originated as a baptismal confession… and developed into its present form by the sixth or seventh century. It reads:

“I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary. Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven; And sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He shall com to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the dead and the life everlasting. Amen.”
